Monday Music Meet – February 20, 2012

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Each week, we at Jingle Punks get together (virtually, of course) and discuss recent Jingle Punks musical activities. More specifically, we note pressing needs, perhaps some noticeable gaps in the library, plus currently hot stuff we think is worth noticing, and, well, anything and everything. We do this via an internal email that we thought was too good to keep to ourselves. Not only are these fun, but they’re also useful in spotlighting the styles of music many of our clients are currently seeking out—which of course is a good indicator of some styles that could use more of. Think of it as a musical brainstorm. Your host is inimitable Jingle Punk employee Liam Farrell. Liam, take it away:

Good afternoon Jingle Punks and a happy President’s Day to all.

While most celebrate presidents day by shopping for discounted furniture and electronics, we punks like to honor our 44 fearless leaders by acting out the ritual that this great country was built upon…coming in to work. Here’s some music to make this Monday moooooove.

Deadmau5 and Carson Daly Shoutout Jingle Punks!

Friday, February 17th, 2012

It’s a pretty awesome Friday afternoon when you get word that deadmau5 and Carson Daly are giving Jingle Punks some props.

It happened on Last Call With Carson Daly. The two were discussing what deadmau5 calls ‘the business side of things when creating music’. Carson notes that Last Call uses Jingle Punks, before deadmau5 replies, “That’s a thing that’s really underlooked by kids who want to have an outlet for creative stuff.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Check out the clip.

USA Today Talks Jingle Punks-Soundtracked TOTALLY AMP’D!

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Last month we pointed you to Totally Amp’d, the groundbreaking mobile series aimed at tweens. As we explained then, Totally Amp’d consists of ten ‘appisodes’. The first ten-minute appisode is free. After that, a one-time fee of $4.99 unlocks not only the remaining nine installments, but also tons of interactive features and custom content, including content the user creates and customizes, like remix options and art design.

This week USA Today took a closer look at Totally Amp’d, exploring and explaining the show, the characters, the custom features, and the unique purchase structure. They call it a ‘sitcom for the digital age,’ specifically an ‘interesting and entertaining experiment in the mobile delivery of short sitcom episodes,’ which sounds just about right to us. Additionally, the article’s author praises Totally Amp’d's decision to target a specific age group, noting that ‘the characters and songs were perfect for my 9-year-old twins.’ Emphasis ours, of course. Glad you like the series, and the music, USA Today!

The Voice Scores Incredible Post-Super Bowl Ratings

Monday, February 6th, 2012

The Voice is off to an amazing start to its second season.

How amazing? Check out this stat: last night’s show was the single highest rated entertainment telecast since 2006. Here are the details, according to The Wrap:

The second-season premiere of NBC’s “The Voice” after the Super Bowl scored the highest ratings of any entertainment telecast since 2006.

“The Voice” scored a 16.3 rating in the crucual adults 18-49 demographic and 37.6 million total viewers overall. It was the best rating since a 16.5 for “Grey’s Anatomy” after the Super Bowl on ABC in 2006.

The show was up 47 percent in the demo and 40 percent in total viewers over the episode of “Glee” that aired after the Super Bowl on Fox last year. (“Glee” scored an 11.1 and 26.8 million total viewers.)

As you might have guessed, Jingle Punks had some musical input into the show, providing custom composition and recording, as well some bits from our Jingle Punks library. Needless to say, Jingle Punks is proud to be a part of such a successful show. Congrats to all involved.

TOTALLY AMP’D, Mobile App Series Aimed At Tweens, Launches, Features Original Jingle Punks Music!

Monday, January 30th, 2012

There’s nothing like being part of something innovative, and flat out cool.

Which is why we’re so psyched to be a part of Totally Amp’d, the first mobile-based series aimed at tweens. The series tells the story of five teens who aim to form a pop supergroup. The best part (to us, at least)? The series features the talented cast performing original music written by our very own Jared Gutstadt.

Totally Amp’d consists of ten ‘appisodes’. The first ten-minute appisode is free. After that, a one-time fee of $4.99 unlocks not only the remaining nine installments, but also a plethora of interactive features. Remix options and the opportunity to design artwork and detail the band’s aesthetic are just some of the many features with which users can create custom content.

Congrats to all involved with Totally Amp’d, especially the producers of Totally Amp’d: Toronto-based Shaftesbury and its digital media arm Smokebomb Entertainment. Get the app today, and watch the first episode below!

Featured in last week’s 30 Rock was this hilarious spoof starring Andy Samberg, Emma Stone, and two tracks from our very own Jingle Punks library. Congrats to 21st Century Girl and also The Seams! Laugh, and listen:

CMT’s BAYOU BILLIONAIRES, WITH MUSIC BY JINGLE PUNKS, PREMIERES WITH RECORD RATINGS!

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Some of the most fun we’ve had recently here at Jingle Punks HQ has been writing and recording the theme song to Bayou Billionaires, the new CMT show that follows, you guessed it, a newly rich Louisiana family.

Bayou Billionaires premiered on Saturday, January 21st, and the numbers are worthy of a billionaire. According to TV By The Numbers, Bayou Billionaires ‘earned a .72 among P18-49, and averaged 724,000 viewers among the same audience according to early Nielsen reporting,’ making it the highest-rated original series telecast in CMT’s history.

Congrats to all involved! Jingle Punks is proud to be part of the success. As the Bayou Billionaires theme song says, how ya like me now?
