Jingle Punks

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Jingle Punks = iTunes + Pandora for the Production Music World.

We have almost 15,000 tracks of indie rock, hip hop, punk, funk, orchestral and various types of production music which is searchable in our proprietary search engine, “The Jingle Player,” specialized technology which has several patents pending.

We are the first music database to allow producers, editors and PA’s to find music using musical and non-musical terms.  You are just as likely to find a track you need by typing in the word Green Day, Coldplay or Snoop as you are by typing cultural references such as “Oceans 11″ , “Juno” or “Wes Anderson.”  One click and one fee gives producers access to the most cost effective way of scoring original content.

In addition to the library, we have also custom composed numerous music packages (theme song, featured promos and more) for shows including “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” on Bravo, “Pawn Stars” on History and “Engaged & Underage” on MTV.  By crowd-sourcing composer services, Jingle Punks acts as a bridge between many of todays hottest composers and productions looking for a cost effective solution to their music needs.

One of the most important aspects of Jingle Punks is our technology. In 2010 we are rolling out our several amazing enhancements that will make searching for music, using music in media and administering music much easier. The system that will save productions companies time and money.

One final note: Our unique blend of services and content have garnered us some great press in various industry trades and business publications including Variety and Business Week.

Real Housewives of Atlanta

The night begins

The night begins

Jingle Punks should feel proud today.  We were lucky enough to have our music in this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Ethan, Dan and I went to MPE to watch the first episode with the folks who created the show. The party was pretty fun, we drank some champagne and got laughed at because our new business cards have um…our pics on em… which some people found creepy and other folks found hilarious.  Either way it was a great ice breaker and we met some really cool folks.  Check out some of the snaps from this night.

After jingle schmingling for a few hours we watched the first episode which was amazing.  Ep #1 ended with a classic scene about how customer service these days is a dying trend.  We hope we never have a scene like this in our offices and we learned a great lesson by watching how not to run a company.

This clip is classic. Enjoy!

What Would You Do?

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Yes.  It’s an age old question.  What would you do for a Klondike Bar?  Jingle Punks digs deep and tries to answer this question in a series of new spots for Klondike which we have heard are airing on Comedy Central in conjunction with Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter’s new series.  You can check out the first of 4 here.

So this week has already started with a bang. First off. Jingle Punks has finally moved into our new office. We are so excited to now have a space where we can meet clients, compose music and hang out with all our Jingle bands when they swing through town. As well, Jingle Punks has been busy working on some really cool new projects. MTV recently asked us to do some pitches for a new show and to make these songs extra awesome we brought in some hired guns. Check out the below video and enjoy.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned as our next Jingle Blog is going to feature some behind the scenes shenanigans from our epic move.

Jingle Jared Goes to Mexico…

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Today was a fun one.

It started off with news that a promo we did for History Channel had gone to air, featuring Ryan Star of Warner Music.

Next up, was music for the MTV Movie Awards which airs this weekend.  We are psyched to be part of this because rumor has it that this year its going to be a really good one with some much needed comedy infused antics from Andy Samberg.

By the time I was ready for lunch I had already squeezed so much music into my day that was spent.  Before I could get my lunch down I noticed in my ical I had 20 minutes to be in Brooklyn to record at Shabby Road studios for an HBO project.  This project turned out to be the highlight of my day, if not the year thus far.  I was asked to make some authentic Mexican music for a show open and was struggling to get that authentic sound.  Then, last week, as I was about to give up, I found a Mexican folk band busking on the street and got their info.  They agreed to come do an impromptu session of traditional folk songs for this and I would in turn produce a CD of music for them to keep. The deal was pretty sweet for all involved and I am very happy with the music we recorded and the overall vibe of the day.

Here are some pics and various recordings we made.

Starz Network and Jingle Punks make sweet music

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Starz Network, home to new original shows like Head Case and Party Down, has agreed to a 1 year blanket license for music.  We’re excited to be able to get our music in the mix with not only their promotions and commercial division, but also with their new original programming department.

This is going to be a great avenue for placing a lot of music in some great shows.  The deal is effective immediately so be on the look out for news of placements and featured pieces!

Major Updates coming soon…

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Hey Jingle Punks,
Ok, its been quiet for the past few weeks on our end because we have been gearing up internally for some major overhauls to the Jingle Player and web site.

First off, we should mention that your music is greatly appreciated and we have been planting the seeds to make sure that it gets placed in the most possible places.  That  being said we are pleased to announce that Jingle Punks is currently in use in these following projects:

-ABC (The Unusuals)
-Bravo (Real Housewives of Atlanta)
-IFC (Z-Rock)
-MTV (The Hills, Engaged & Underage, Teen Cribs)
-VH1 (The Pick up Artist)
-A&E (Hammer Time)

On top of this we have closed deals to do overall music services on the following networks:

-History Channel
-E!
-G4
-Style
-CW

Several other new deals are pending and we will announce them as they lock in.

Please be patient in terms of getting solid info about placements, I assure you we are doing everything possible with our pool of artists to get you placed in the most ways possible.

In the meantime, we want to ask all the Jingle Punks to help us out with a little bit of grassroots marketing.  On a basic level we want to invite all of you to become our friends on Facebook, Twitter and Myspace. We are using these sites actively to let composers and artists know specifically what we are looking for. For example if we are working on a show that needs cool reggae cues, punk rock tracks or just a jazz number, we can alert you and in tern we can let our clients know what is available.

On a more detailed level we would love it if you could start mentioning us on your Facebook , Twitter and Myspace pages to create a broader awareness of what we do.  Anything you can do from announcing your affiliation with us, to making mentions of placements we get you…once they firm up, would be greatly appreciated.

Again, I thank you all for joining the Jingle Punks army and want to let you know that great things are ahead for all of us!

Jingle Punks & Huggies

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Jingle Punks was selected to be the sole music provider for Huggies upcoming 12 webisode series.  We’re excited to be working with Punched In the Head Productions on this.

It’s not the first time the Punks were tapped by America’s favorite baby brand… Last year, the Huggies Cleanteam Campaign used Jingle Punks music for a spot that was played in front of all PG and G rated films during the first quarter of ’08 and continues to run on networks such as Disney, Nickelodeon and PBS.

Chip Taylor is now a Jingle Punk

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Last night the Jingle Punks crew had the honor of dining with Chip Taylor (writer of Wild Thing, Angel of The Morning and too many other hits to mention. For a quick lesson on Chip I encourage you to read his fascinating bio or check out the clip below (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_Taylor).

After taking Chip to our “fancy” offices, and me accidentally dropping a lemon in his drink and almost getting caught trying to fish it out as I tried to get him to look behind him, Chip somehow agreed to let Jingle Punks represent his current roster of songs and artists. He said he “liked our energy”  and also said our little jingle offices reminded him of the early days of rock n roll when he was breaking all the rules.  Chip is one of a kind and has brought us several amazing records that we are looking forward to placing in films, commercials and high quality shows. Some acts on his label that we are fired up about include Kendel Carson, Carrie Rodriguez and John Platania (Van Morrison’s famed guitar player.

We welcome Chip to the team and look forward to working with a man who is not only a legend but continues to make quality music and the type of music that the Jingle Punks team is passionate about.
