Jingle Punks and Youtube are in love!

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Yes. Its true, we have landed our first big fish…YOUTUBE is using the Jingle Player as we speak to set the stage for their Youtube LIVE event which starts in less than 5 hours.

This is the first of its kind event and is a live sampling of the best and most viral clips Youtube has on its site…In order to keep things Kosher on the copyright side of things…Youtube needed to actually license music that was cleared for worldwide usage and needed a wide selection to boot.  In the past, people treated the web like the wild west, where they would just use what they wanted for music and then wait to have labels make them take it down.  Well those days are over or at least now being regulated…so I guess Jingle Punks is a right time and right place sort of scenario.  Now that entertainment on the web has “hit the big time” , they are going to need a soundtrack…and we have the framework in place to do just that.

I hope you’ll all take a moment to check in on this video feed today.

Jingle Punking is hard work

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So, I have had a busy week Spent 5 days in LA meeting with composers, labels and various TV people to spread the word about the Jingle Player. Did 14 meetings in the course of 4 of the days and felt like I was on amazing race. Had my GPS bouncing me around town and luckily everything got done and I met some cool folks along the way. One of those cool people was,Evan Taubenfeld, he’s a super talented musician and seems to have created a great brand around himself as well…you may know him as the guitarist for Avril Lavigne (he also produced and wrote for her).

It was also good to link up with my old friend Stu Stone. He has become a major player in the music scene creating beats and producing for all sorts of artists including American Idol alumns…

Back in NYC now and playing catch up. First order of business upon arrival here was was to log the back catalogue of ever growing tracks into the Jingle Player. We are now up to 3000 songs and have recently landed some sick bands including:

-The Izzys
-Bloody Social
-Hidden Tape Recorders
-Quitzow
-Setting Sun
-Siwat
Eagle & Talon
-Troy_Lund
-Kurt_Feldhun
-Valeze

Next order of business, was going to see more bands to get in the library. I had heard some amazing things about a band called Lizzie Trullie , so I went to check her out last night at Santo’s Party House. Was great show and I suggest people check out her music.  Hopefully we’ll be getting her in the mix shortly, seems like she has some good buzz and a really good management team in place.

That’s all for now.  Some big news coming up for Jingle Punks this weekend, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy on this topic.  The only hint i can give, is this…

Shit…I’ve said to much.

Danger Zone

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

So the past couple weeks for me have been nothing less than insane…As many of you know, Jingle Punks launched an online search database for use in TV shows, commercials and films. We have spent countless hours taking meetings with MTV, FUSE, FOX, SPIKE ect and have spent even more hours working out the kinks of the player.

Fortunately, its not always all work and no play for us…For example, during CMJ my friend D.A. from Chester French found time to swing by Jingle Punks to do an in house shoot for their video blog (see below). We also found time to have one last Group Sounds show. We sold out The Cake shop on NYC’s Lower East side (see pics here) and had a crazy ass pre-halloween bash. Last but not least, I even found time to record a cover of the Kenny Loggins classic “Danger Zone” with my friend Phil (who happens to be one of the funniest and most talented metal singers of all time).

Launch of the JinglePlayer 1.0 and Chef Jeff Project

Friday, October 10th, 2008

After 8 years of composing music for TV, film and commercial projects I have finally found time to do what I said I would from the beginning…Organize the tracks in a web based searchable player.

Today, is a happy day for me. With the help of my programming team (cudos to Dan Demole and Jim Martinez for being so goddamn smart!) we are un-officially launching the Jingle Player (official release date is Oct 30th and we are having a big party at CAKE SHOP on the LES to celebrate…you are all invited…more on that soon)

OK…now for some cool news. Anyone out there who watches Food Network should tune in this weekend to catch the premiere of the Chef Jeff project which is our largest Jingle project to date. This show is sure to be a hit and we were thankful to be part of this creative process. Anyone who knows the backstory on Chef Jeff is sure to be inspired. He’s Oprah approved and really is a great person who I think will become a huge star. (thank you Adam Z and Mike M for bringing Jingle Punks onto this amazing show!)

BTW. this would not have been possible for me without the help of my amazing production coordinator Ricky Sanchez whom I highly recommend to anyone who will listen. He diligently entered thousands of song titles into a database and entered in reams of information that it should have taken a full team to do.
