Funny or Die Presents

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Over a year ago HBO came to Jingle Punks asking for an authentic mariachi song for their new series “Funny or Die Presents,” a show so funny, so awesome that it cannot be aptly described in this one blog alone – but we’re sure gonna try!

Anyways… for this project Jingle Punks called in reinforcements – we enlisted the help of Barry Danielian (Tower of Power) and Ozzie Melendez (Marc Anthony) along with Jingle Jared on guitar and bass and came up with a track that’s so amazing we want to show it off to you. If you recall (and I’m sure you do!) our earlier blogs about recording the authentic Mexican band… it should be noted that they were initially brought onto the project but the client eventually opted for a different direction with Jared writing comical lyrics and Ozzie translating and singing them in Spanish. What was produced can only be summed up in a single word – magic. Check it out.

Jingle Punks gets Animated

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

For all our cartoon frenzied fans out there we’ve got a couple of new projects we’re really excited to show you. First off – feast your eyes on this hilarious clip from the new animated Comedy Central series Ugly Americans. For this one we here at Jingle Punks took it back – way back to the 60′s for a sick wah wah psychedelic jam reminiscent of the Vietnam era.

In more animated Jingle Punks news, we are very very excited to finally share with you the new Hertog Ice Cream piece we composed a few months back. You may remember this tune from a certain Jingle Video Blog featuring our super talented friend Sarah.
So after months of edits and animation the piece is finally here. Check it out and get ready to have line dancing cows in your face, and our catchy melody in your head for the rest of the day.

Its a Mad Mad Mad House

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Over the holidays, Jingle Punks did music for a new History Channel show called Madhouse. We were asked to make a new master of “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash and because we were all on vacation when the request came in we used several studios, locations and artists to make this happen.

Here is a breakdown of how the process for this worked.

Step 1: I produced the basic track for the network to approve.  For this I used my portable logic studio using Logic and the Apogee One.  During this round I played all the instruments and put in temp vocals.

Step 2: Revisions to the instrumentation and vocals were requested and the track tempo was adjusted to fit the picture.

Step 3: Reach out to one of our Jingle Punks Artists to step in as vocals on this track.

When all was said and done the final track production was as follows. I played acoustic and bass guitar and drums, Matt Chambless played electric guitar, Jeff Peters played the washboard and James Mason was the star of this on vocals.

Angus Kahn brings the Rawk to Bully Beatdown

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

screen-shot-2009-09-24-at-92214-am

One of our favorite new shows is Bully Beatdown on MTV. It helps that this is a show that:

A- We do music for
B- Involves Bully’s getting their asses whooped by MMA fighters for cash and cheap laughs
C- Is bringing back the Rawk to MTV

And one of our favorite bands of the moment is Angus Kahn. These guys are rude, loud and rock really really hard. So it’s no surprise that Bully Beatdown is featuring their debut single “Big Balls” in this Thursday’s episode during the MMA fighter intro.

Please tune in and watch the madness. Help spread the word anyway you can. This show is a must watch and this band is going to be HUGE! Take it all in and enjoy!
