Jingle Brazil

brazil_pegn

As some of you may remember (those who follow our tweets and facebook shenanigans), a few weeks back a writer from Brazil asked to do a story on Jingle Punks Music for a magazine called PEGN, which is akin to the Business Week of Brazil.  Little did we know this story was going to be epic and feature pictures of Dan and I jumping through the air like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar on crack.  There’s mention of “Milionaria” in the title too, which is worth a laugh (and some raised eyebrows from our girlfriends!).

I still don’t know exactly what the article actually says but I’m a shallow guy and it looks cool, so its good enough for me.  For anyone that wants to know what is the meat of the story I can tell you only what I told the writer.

Once upon a time Dan and I went to concert, got really watsed, threw drinks on one another and the next day we started a company.  OK, there is a little more to it than that, like the 120 hour work weeks we put in, our empty bank accounts, the constant travelling, the never seeing our loved ones and other boring things the kids may not want to read about…

Oh, and any Brazilian readers out there how can get a hold of a copy and let us know what it says… we’d appreciate it.
Minor note… we have a new Jingle Video blog coming live this week, so stay tuned.

Jingle All the Way!

We’re baaack

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

A lot of people have been asking us for more video updates because our first ones were watched by a whopping 98 people….c’mon you gotta re-tweet this if you want us to take the time to make some videos.

Anyways, if a picture is worth 1000 words than this video is worth at least 10,000 words. So on that note. No more words. Just click to watch.

Starting my trip off the Jingle Jared way.

Starting my trip off the Jingle Jared way.

I am at the airport in Colorado waiting to fly back east.  This week made me remember what it used to be like to be on tour.  I spent 5 days on the road, but instead of rocking a stage every night covered in sweat and whiskey, I rocked some board rooms covered in…well…sweat and whiskey (just kidding).

Tired at the airport after countless meetings over the past week.

Tired at the airport after countless meetings over the past week.

Day 1.

-Touched down in LA

-Took a jog (thats my 4th jog of 2009. Eye of the Tiger Baby!)

-Went for drinks with our friends from VH1 music (we had some laughs, some margaritas and called it a night at some time in the wee hours of tuesday morning…note to self, this is not the best way to cure jet lag. In fact it has the opposite effect.

Day 2.

-Electronic Arts.  I met a really cool music supervisor at EA and we talked about getting Jingle Punks music in the mix.  So if you are one of our artists and are reading this and think your music could work well in titles like Madden and FIFA AND you have distribution or a release coming up for late 09 or top of 2010 please send us your latest and greatest.

-Playboy TV.  Went to the Playboy production facilities to give a Jingle Demo.  We discussed which shows our music would work best for and I showed them some examples of some of the recent work we did for A&E, Bravo and MTV.

-Fuel TV.  Met head of the music Dept. and a new friend Patrick.  Both of them are super nice.  Patrick helped us play connect the dots in LA with other places he thought our music would be a good fit.  He also set us up with a meeting at Berman Braun which took place the next day.  The music guru from  FUEL figured out we knew a lot of people in common because he used to winter in Florida with all the old people (like me.  If you are a Jew from Toronto, like me, you would know exactly what I am talking about).   We also had friends in common from NYC’s music scene.  Apparently his best friend Grant used to be in a band The Fiasco which my old band Group Sounds played with often.

Day 3.

-CAA.  Went to the DeathStar.  Yes. CAA is a frightening place to go. It is designed to give the visitor a psychological disadvantage.  We discussed Jingle Punks future plans to work in the medium of film.  Made it out unscathed…phew!

-Berman Braun. This company is also huge.  They do a bunch of shows on NBC including a new hospital drama Mercy.  We discussed Jingle Punks getting integrated into their production departments.  Our new friend at B&B was super smart and really nice.  She got what we were doing and had some good suggestions of how we could get in the mix with them.

E!. Met with Daily 10 producer.  They are already a client so we just shot the shit and talked about some of the new features we have in our player.  He asked us to make some new bins for him of our latest and greatest in each genre.

Drinks.  Met with my friend Stan M and Jen B.  We had drinks then met up with my other LA friend Brian  who I believe is the next Spielberg….he even wears a Panavision Jacket and carries a directors chair and megaphone with him everywhere he goes.  He turned 30 so we got him, um, drunk…I guess thats the best word for this.

My final meeting place...Starz in Colorado.

My final meeting place...Starz in Colorado.

Day 4.  Woke up a little under the weather but headed right to ITV.  This was possibly the most interesting meeting yet.  Met with  VP of Current programming there walked me through their immediate music needs.  He seemed to have all sorts of good ideas about music in TV and he also has a roster of really cool content that we hope to be part of.

VH1. Met with the line producer at Creature films.  They do tons of Rock Docs and Behind the Music.  We already have a deal in place so this was just another chance to get feedback on the player and see what we could do to improve our services.

Downtime.  Finally got to relax for a few minutes by a pool.  Exhausted.

Flight to Colorado.  Delayed.  Finally got into Colorado at 1am.  Was ready to crash but alas, no cars could be rented to get to my hotel so I took a monster cab ride.  Checked into the hotel and a raging party was going down.  Drunk ass hooligans (damn I sound old) were causing a racous in the lobby and I was unlucky enough to be on…yes you guessed it, 1st floor.  Music finally stopped around 4am, but then the fist fights in the parking lot ensued.  I thought I was gonna be a victim of a home invasion (I know Im a paranoid Jew…I know!)

Day 5. Woked up and felt pretty beat but had to rock a 30 person meeting at Starz.  Pulled it together with some Coffee and hydration.  The meeting went great. Starz is officially our new client.  We are servicing a bunch of channel that they own.  The facility was awesome state of the art everything and they had some great things to say about Jingle Punks.

There you have it.  I survived a hard week on the road.  Not quite like the way I did it in my 20′s but I’d rather be doing this than anything else in the world.  Now I am off to Toronto to see my little ones.

Real Housewives of Atlanta

The night begins

The night begins

Jingle Punks should feel proud today.  We were lucky enough to have our music in this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Ethan, Dan and I went to MPE to watch the first episode with the folks who created the show. The party was pretty fun, we drank some champagne and got laughed at because our new business cards have um…our pics on em… which some people found creepy and other folks found hilarious.  Either way it was a great ice breaker and we met some really cool folks.  Check out some of the snaps from this night.

After jingle schmingling for a few hours we watched the first episode which was amazing.  Ep #1 ended with a classic scene about how customer service these days is a dying trend.  We hope we never have a scene like this in our offices and we learned a great lesson by watching how not to run a company.

This clip is classic. Enjoy!

Jingle Blog #6

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

So this week has already started with a bang. First off. Jingle Punks has finally moved into our new office. We are so excited to now have a space where we can meet clients, compose music and hang out with all our Jingle bands when they swing through town. We also just put the finishing touches on our first ever compilation of Jingle Punks key tracks for the month of July.  If you are on our mailing list you will be getting a link to this shortly.

As well, Jingle Punks has been busy working on some really cool new projects. MTV recently asked us to do some pitches for a new show and to make these songs extra awesome we brought in some hired guns. Check out the below video and enjoy.

That’s all for now.  Stay tuned as our next Jingle Blog is going to feature some behind the scenes shenanigans from our epic move.

Video JingleBlogs are here!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Well, for some time now our friends and even some of our clients, Mom’s and Dad’s have been asking Dan and I to document some of our day to day activities so they could get a sense of what it is we actually do here at Jingle Punks all day.

These first videos will not make anything clear except for the fact that everyday is completely different for us.

Some days we are recording with street musicians in Brooklyn…

Other days we are in LA taking rapid fire meetings to get our roster of artists placed in shows…

Jingle Punks is off to LA

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Hey Jingle Punks,

Z Rock on IFC

The continuing adventures of Jingle Jared and Jingle Dan keep on rolling. Every week seems to bring something new and exciting. This past week alone not one but two new shows debuted.  Z Rock which is our first series for IFC premiered this past Sunday and we are really happy to be part of this hilarious and well written show.

The other show we provided music for was A&E’s much anticipated Hammer Time.

Stop...Hammer Time!

This show is pretty much self explanatory and I am sure we will add this one to our ever growing list of guilty pleasure viewing.

Big thanks to Greg D at 3 Ball for getting us involved in Hammer Time and a much thanks to Mark Mark Productions who took a chance on us early on and has been placing us in tons of new shows.

All of this excitement is happening just in time for Dan and I’s next jaunt out to LA.  Last time, we met Diddy and Tila Tequila, how we gonna top ourselves this time…By meeting Erkel and Brett Michaels?  Who knows, but I am sure we will have som great stories this time around.

If any LA Jingle Punks have shows between June 22-25 while we are in LA, send the dates our way and we will make it a point to come see you.

Jingle Jared Goes to Mexico…

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Today was a fun one.

It started off with news that a promo we did for History Channel had gone to air, featuring Ryan Star of Warner Music.

Next up, was music for the MTV Movie Awards which airs this weekend.  We are psyched to be part of this because rumor has it that this year its going to be a really good one with some much needed comedy infused antics from Andy Samberg.

By the time I was ready for lunch I had already squeezed so much music into my day that was spent.  Before I could get my lunch down I noticed in my ical I had 20 minutes to be in Brooklyn to record at Shabby Road studios for an HBO project.  This project turned out to be the highlight of my day, if not the year thus far.  I was asked to make some authentic Mexican music for a show open and was struggling to get that authentic sound.  Then, last week, as I was about to give up, I found a Mexican folk band busking on the street and got their info.  They agreed to come do an impromptu session of traditional folk songs for this and I would in turn produce a CD of music for them to keep. The deal was pretty sweet for all involved and I am very happy with the music we recorded and the overall vibe of the day.

Here are some pics and various recordings we made.

Angels & Kings launch party

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009
Last night was an amazing night for the Jingle Punks team. We had our 09 launch at Angels & Kings. Many of our clients and composers turned out for this event. We hope this will be the start of a very fun year. Our goal is to create a culture around the Jingle Punks brand and bring all sorts of creative types together. Check out some of the highlights from last night and come find us on Facebook so you don’t miss out on the next Jingle bash.
Up next for Jingle Punks is MTV’s Engaged & Underage. Jingle Punks was asked to provide our library as well as custom elements for the re-brand of this popular series. We will post clips as soon as shows have air dates.

Jingle Punking is hard work

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So, I have had a busy week Spent 5 days in LA meeting with composers, labels and various TV people to spread the word about the Jingle Player. Did 14 meetings in the course of 4 of the days and felt like I was on amazing race. Had my GPS bouncing me around town and luckily everything got done and I met some cool folks along the way. One of those cool people was,Evan Taubenfeld, he’s a super talented musician and seems to have created a great brand around himself as well…you may know him as the guitarist for Avril Lavigne (he also produced and wrote for her).

It was also good to link up with my old friend Stu Stone. He has become a major player in the music scene creating beats and producing for all sorts of artists including American Idol alumns…

Back in NYC now and playing catch up. First order of business upon arrival here was was to log the back catalogue of ever growing tracks into the Jingle Player. We are now up to 3000 songs and have recently landed some sick bands including:

-The Izzys
-Bloody Social
-Hidden Tape Recorders
-Quitzow
-Setting Sun
-Siwat
Eagle & Talon
-Troy_Lund
-Kurt_Feldhun
-Valeze

Next order of business, was going to see more bands to get in the library. I had heard some amazing things about a band called Lizzie Trullie , so I went to check her out last night at Santo’s Party House. Was great show and I suggest people check out her music.  Hopefully we’ll be getting her in the mix shortly, seems like she has some good buzz and a really good management team in place.

That’s all for now.  Some big news coming up for Jingle Punks this weekend, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy on this topic.  The only hint i can give, is this…

Shit…I’ve said to much.
