Amazing. The Marinovich Project, presented as part of ESPN’s outstanding ’30 For 30′ series, has been nominated for an Outstanding Sports Documentary Sports Emmy. Congratulations to filmmakers Andrew Stephan and John Dorsey. Jingle Punks contributed custom composition and music production as well music from our curated library of artist tracks. We’re honored to have played a role in the filmmakers’ vision.
The 2012 Sports Emmys take place on April 30 in New York.
Isn’t she a beauty? We’ll be LIVING on that thing for the rest of SXSW, touring Austin as we hit gig after gig. It’s the rock n’ roll (and hip-hop, and pop) dream—like the Wanted Dead Or Alive video, but with slightly less permed hair.
Speaking of shows: TONIGHT (Tuesday), the 4 Strings and an 808 version of the Hipster Orchestra will be at the Illmore Hotel (2201 Veteran’s Drive, Travis Post 76, American Legion). The Illmore is one of SXSW’s premier hip-hop events and is not to be missed.
SO DON’T MISS IT.
The rest of our SXSW itinerary can be found here. We’re posting loads of photos on our Facebook page, so check that out. And be sure to follow our latest news and updates at @jinglepunks and @hipsterorchestr.
What happens when you’re walking the streets of Austin and you come across two colorfully dressed hula hoopers? You do a little hula hoopin’, that’s what. At least that what our very own Liam does.
The sun came out in Austin just in time for the Hipster Orchestra’s first appearance at SXSW 2012. The show took place at the Haven Lounge downtown and, as you can see, we played to a full house. Thanks to all involved with the Crowdtap VIP Party.
Up next on our SXSW performance docket: tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Illmore Hotel Welcoming Party (American Legion Hall, 2201 Veterans Drive). The Illmore party is one of the premier hip-hop events at SXSW—don’t miss it!
The Hipster Orchestra’s SXSW schedule just got that much more exciting.
Our in-house chamber group was already to set to play the BET Music Matters Showcase on Thursday, March 15 at SXSW. Now, BET has just announced that superstar producer Timbaland is slated to host—and he won’t be the only bold-faced name to appear. From BET’s site:
Among the hip hop names set to hit the stage are Big Sean, MGK, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T., Stalley, and Don Trip. R&B will be well represented as well by Music Matters standouts Marsha Ambrosius and Miguel. This super line-up of fan favorites will be backed by the talented Jingle Punks Orchestra.
Needless to say, we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this special event.
The BET Music Matters Showcase goes down at 8pm on Thursday, March 15 at The Stage On Sixth (508 East 6th St).
Each week, we at Jingle Punks get together (virtually, of course) and discuss recent Jingle Punks musical activities. More specifically, we note pressing needs, perhaps some noticeable gaps in the library, plus currently hot stuff we think is worth noticing, and, well, anything and everything. We do this via an internal email that we thought was too good to keep to ourselves. Not only are these fun, but they’re also useful in spotlighting the styles of music many of our clients are currently seeking out—which of course is a good indicator of some styles that could use more of. Think of it as a musical brainstorm. Your host is inimitable Jingle Punk employee Liam Farrell. Liam, take it away:
Top o’ the Tuesday Morning to ya Punks,
Anybody happen to catch Jack White on SNL this weekend? He put on a killer performance and sounded great. If you have ever seen any other SNL musical guest, you know their appearances are usually pretty thin and awkward, much like Lindsay Lohan’s performance as the host.
Things have been busy round these parts lately. GOOD busy. The studio team has been hard at work banging out track after track for projects such as American Pickers and a Coors ad campaign, to name a few. Very soon, we will begin pitching music to The Real Housewives of Miami, so put on your fedoras and don’t forget the sunscreen. We’re gonna need some spicy music.
Three chefs, dropped into a jungle, tasked to hunt and gather ingredients armed only with a knife, and then charged with impressing the natives with a home-cooked meal?
Sounds like a job for Jingle Punks.
When BBC America needed original music for No Kitchen Required, their latest original series, they came to Jingle Punks. Jingle Jared wrote and recorded the theme, and custom elements were rocked by our crack in-house team. The result is a show with a soundtrack to sink your teeth into.
The show premieres on BBC America on April 3 at 10/9c. Check out the extended trailer, which The Hollywood Reporter notes ‘finds the trio cooking Mayan cuisine in the Belize jungle,’ below. Other locales slated to appear during the show’s ten episode season include Dominica, New Zealand, Thailand, Fiji, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Louisiana.
Major congratulations to Chiddy Bang, who had a bang up week with the early release of their latest LP, the Jingle Punks-aided Breakfast! The album debuts at Number 8 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart with over 31,000 in sales. Here’s the news from Billboard:
Alternative hip-hop act Chiddy Bang bows in the top 10 with its debut album, “Breakfast,” starting at No. 8 with 31,000 — nearly all of that downloads. The set was exclusively available in the iTunes Store last week, which also offered the album’s “Handclaps & Guitars” as its free single of the week. “Breakfast” became available to all retailers on Feb. 28, a week after its iTunes launch.
The album features the song “Happening” which was co-written by the Jingle Punks team and will be released as a single. Go grab the album on iTunes now and also in regular old brick and mortar stores. Buy it and support the team!

Hope you guys all enjoyed the Oscars last night. I totally forgot all about them and spent my night watching Celebrity Apprentice. Oops! Apparently I missed Meryl Streep’s acceptance for Iron Man 3: The Iron Lady and even a Billy Crystal nip-slip. Yikes! I did however watch the opening montage featuring music by the Fishiest of Chips… our own Jeff Peters! Check out his chops here. Congrats Jeff.
BTW Did anyone hear Jingle Punks in the opening Oscar Sketch?? Jingle Punks was sandwiched in along side some of the all time greats!!! Exciting stuff!
