Cover Me Blog

Jingle Punks has built a reputation for having some of the BEST pre-cleared indie music available and that reputation was built, in part, thanks to the success of our incredible Artist Community! We don’t see that changing any time soon and we’ve got more proof as to why we’re the best  and it comes from Cover Me Blog’s “Best Cover EPs of 2011″ list. The blog’s annual list features two Jingle Punks artists, Bird Call and Alyson Greenfield, who ranked at #11 and #2 respectively.  Both of their EP’s received high praise (which you can read below) and we’re incredibly happy for their success! Check out the article HERE and be sure to pick up both Alyson and Bird Call’s projects on either Amazon or iTunes.

tinderbox

Jingle Punks is proud to announce that Tinderbox Music Festival will be going on Saturday, Sept. 9 at The Knitting Factory.  The event was founded by JP artist Alyson Greenfield in 2010 after she “recognized the existence of a large community of female musicians and their fans who desired to be part of a new women’s music event specifically reflecting the current landscape of emerging talent.”  The festival features an all female line-up, including JP’s own Sarah Aument, and 100% of the net proceeds will go to Girls Write Now and Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls.  Tinderbox is gaining major attention and has been spotlighted by Billboard, Beyond Race magazine, Bust magazine, LadyGunn, and Time Out New York.  Do yourself a favor and stop by The Knitting Factory on Saturday, tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door and can be purchased HERE.

Are you ready to F.E.A.S.T.?

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Recently, Alyson Greenfield, a Jingle Punks artist and founder of the Tinderbox Music Festival, contacted me and told me about FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) and her involvement with this unique community event. I immediately thought that this was something our artist community would find interesting and worthwhile (plus, who doesn’t like good food!). I was very happy to hear that Alyson’s Tinderbox Music Fest, which also features JP artists, is a finalist for FEAST’s Community Grant which will be decided this Saturday, July 9 at Church of the Messiah (129 Russel Street) in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The event takes place from 5-8pm and it would be great for any local JP artists to check out FEAST while supporting Tinderbox and the other community projects. For more info on FEAST, here’s a little background  from their website:

FEAST (Funding Emerging Art with Sustainable Tactics) is a recurring public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund new and emerging art makers. At each FEAST, patrons give a $20 donation for which they receive supper and a ballot. Diners spend the evening reviewing a series of project proposals and conversing with the artists behind each idea. Attendees cast a vote for their favorite proposal, and by the end of the night, the artist who garners the most votes is awarded a grant comprised of that evening’s door money. Since 2009, FEAST Brooklyn has produced 10 dinners, funded dozens of projects and raised over $15,000. Meanwhile, similar models have emerged all over the country, resulting in a network of organizations committed to rethinking how art is financed and communally experienced.
