Jingle Punks’ Creative Services team member, Jingle Rick, has decided to share some of his extensive studio knowledge in our new series, “Rick’s Corner”. This video series will feature helpful tutorials which walk viewers through the steps and is narrated by Jingle Rick himself. In this first video, Rick has a Logic session cued up which he uses to show viewers a couple different ways to use sidechain compression. Check it out below and feel free to leave comments.
Jingle Punks Artist Matt Bishop wrote and produced a song titled “Every Page I Turn.” This song was submitted for consideration in the Grammy’s Song of the Year category and has made it thru the 150 expert panel selection, qualifying, and category process. The nominees will be announced on Dec 1st at the Grammy nomination concert. The song is voted on by all the recording academy members who specialize or are experienced in their fields. This would be a huge comeback story for 70′s Warner brothers/Capricorn billboard artist Jonathan Edwards.
Congratulations Matt! We are very proud to have this song in the Jingle Punks library and we hope you bring home a winner!
This past Friday Jingle Punks did our first ever in store for Apple. Our Apple Store presentation, “Making and Selling Your Music”, was all about how to take your dream and turn it into a reality.
Armed with the Apogee ONE and highlighting Apple’s Logic Pro, we took the attendees through the steps of how to spot the types of music that shows use and then showed step by step how to create these with tools you may already own (like Logic and Garageband); We also explained how Jingle Punks produces music for top networks like the A&E, NBC, History Channel and MTV with a speedy turnaround.
During the event Jingle Jared and Jeff even recorded short songs using a mandolin, guitar, midi controller and ONE’s internal condenser microphone demonstrating how easy it is to get great broadcast ready recordings on a budget and tight space.
We want to give Apogee a major shout out for demo products they have been sending our way. We suggest you check out their website to learn more about their awesome roster of products . In the recent months, we have been traveling with the ONE, taking advantage of its microphone while composing on location for many of our high profile clients.
Over the holidays, Jingle Punks did music for a new History Channel show called Madhouse. We were asked to make a new master of “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash and because we were all on vacation when the request came in we used several studios, locations and artists to make this happen.
Here is a breakdown of how the process for this worked.
Step 1: I produced the basic track for the network to approve. For this I used my portable logic studio using Logic and the Apogee One. During this round I played all the instruments and put in temp vocals.
Step 2: Revisions to the instrumentation and vocals were requested and the track tempo was adjusted to fit the picture.
Step 3: Reach out to one of our Jingle Punks Artists to step in as vocals on this track.
When all was said and done the final track production was as follows. I played acoustic and bass guitar and drums, Matt Chambless played electric guitar, Jeff Peters played the washboard and James Mason was the star of this on vocals.
Jingle Punks should feel proud today. We were lucky enough to have our music in this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Ethan, Dan and I went to MPE to watch the first episode with the folks who created the show. The party was pretty fun, we drank some champagne and got laughed at because our new business cards have um…our pics on em… which some people found creepy and other folks found hilarious. Either way it was a great ice breaker and we met some really cool folks. Check out some of the snaps from this night.
Having some civilized drinks with the EP of Real Housewives of Atlanta
We took it to the Jane street hotel for some post housewives nightcaps.
After jingle schmingling for a few hours we watched the first episode which was amazing. Ep #1 ended with a classic scene about how customer service these days is a dying trend. We hope we never have a scene like this in our offices and we learned a great lesson by watching how not to run a company.
Yes. It’s an age old question. What would you do for a Klondike Bar? Jingle Punks digs deep and tries to answer this question in a series of new spots for Klondike which we have heard are airing on Comedy Central in conjunction with Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter’s new series. You can check out the first of 4 here.
Jingle Punks provides the music for this series of Klondike ads hosted by Michael Ian Black.
So this week has already started with a bang. First off. Jingle Punks has finally moved into our new office. We are so excited to now have a space where we can meet clients, compose music and hang out with all our Jingle bands when they swing through town. We also just put the finishing touches on our first ever compilation of Jingle Punks key tracks for the month of July. If you are on our mailing list you will be getting a link to this shortly.
As well, Jingle Punks has been busy working on some really cool new projects. MTV recently asked us to do some pitches for a new show and to make these songs extra awesome we brought in some hired guns. Check out the below video and enjoy.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned as our next Jingle Blog is going to feature some behind the scenes shenanigans from our epic move.
Well, for some time now our friends and even some of our clients, Mom’s and Dad’s have been asking Dan and I to document some of our day to day activities so they could get a sense of what it is we actually do here at Jingle Punks all day.
These first videos will not make anything clear except for the fact that everyday is completely different for us.
Some days we are recording with street musicians in Brooklyn…
Other days we are in LA taking rapid fire meetings to get our roster of artists placed in shows…
